Real Lunch And A Walk!

Today, Mom and aunt Sharron got dad soup from the metropolitan market. Earlier we got him a smoothie from jamba juice. The real food made a big difference for Dad, who has been suffering in silence on hospital food.

We had a visit from the doctor who does pacemakers, and she checked his intrinsic rhythms. She said that while his heart is beating on its own, it is what’s called an “escape rhythm”. While it is good to have an escape rhythm, it means he still needs a pacemaker. That said, he needs only the simplest of pacemakers, which means long battery life. He’ll be able to bike just fine, and potentially still dive to 120-140 ft. As far as I am concerned, this is still good news.

Right now he’s going for a walk. Excellent steps!

Wow–Awesome!! A man on the move and ready to eat real food! Love, KT

Hurray for non-hospital food, and double hurray for walking, so soon! We have a friend who has had a pacemaker for at least ten years now, and he is still heli-skiing in Canada every winter. (Yes, he can afford it — but, more important, he can still do it.) Mike, as someone else already said, “You are the man!” We have no doubt that you will be one of those who come all the way back from heart surgery and go on to do whatever they may choose to do, with the many years made available by today’s amazing medical art-and-technology. Congratulations to all hands — and thanks, Benson, for having the art-and-technology to send those pictures! Janet

I love the smiley photo Benson!

Well make my whole day Mike…..what a wonderful picture of you walking down the hall with Carol by your side……and that smile! I told you everything would be okay…..and it is. God Bless. :)

Mike: After looking at the pictures I’ve seen that look of extream concentration before you know 35mph downwind doing the Kalahar crouch.
We raced sunday Sole, GWTW,Wildthing. Coarse: Spit, S.V. Social problem [ Derilect boat on the hook ] Cost guard home. I finished just ahead of jeff. Afterwords had a beer and told sea stories about you all true of course.
Hopefully Benson and carol can continue to sneek in real food from outside Tia food probably not good yet. Just don’t get caught those RN’s can be pretty strict.
Nick sends his regaurds and best wishes he has a booth at the boat show selling his boat bottom cleaner. He’s been in England trying to get his green card he say’s it was a real hassel it took him some time to get it done. I told him it would be faster to just climb the fence like everyone else.
We still have the utmost confidance you’ll be home soon with the great healer at work.
See you soon Ron & lisa

Carole isn’t having to run to keep up with you, is she?

  7. Mel Kossen says:

JOY! To see Mike’s smiling face and doing the downwind leg with Carole trailing … priceless! Thank you for the updates! Some of you may not be aware but Michael’s head is like the bottom of an America’s Cup boat, not to be seen by competitors! So smooth, so slick, almost an unfair advantage and cleverly disguised as ‘bald’.

  8. Great news, Mike. Keep up the good fight and soon you will be home drinking some good ‘ol Guniness just in time for St Patty’s Day……………ha There is nothing tougher than a good ‘ol Irishman who can just get ‘er done. I’ll hoist one for you in the meantime so wishing you God’s speed in your full recovery.

Slainte, ( you may want to have Benson google this as it is an Gaelic Irish toast)
Maybe your Dad has used it before too……ha

    All the best,
