Pacemakers and walking, oh my!

image

Dad is about to go into the operating theater again, and have his pacemaker installed. This will be done with some newfangled cameras and fancy dyes to be minimally invasive. The result will be a device that lets him function on his own, but takes over if his heart rate drops too low. It’ll be safe to dive to 130 feet, and other sports should be unaffected entirely. It’s a pretty exciting milestone.

Once the pacemaker is in, he just needs to heal up a bit, and we can all go home.  In 3 months, he’ll be back on his bike.

Earlier he went walking again, which went well. The only thing keeping him from walking longer is getting cold in the hospital robe.

Great news and pics! Bill you know that if you want the rhythm section to be in sync and tight then for sure it should be James Brown…

Great to see you on your feet, Skipper! Thanks to your Medical Team for the excellent work! And how many days ’til you’re racing again, barking from the helm of Myrrh?

More congratulations, this time for getting the pacemaker, which sounds like a superior instrument since it won’t kick in unless needed! It’s a strange thing that they always keep hospitals so cold; we have actually caught cold a time or two. The nurses do have heated blankets in a cabinet if you ask for one, but you probably can’t have one to wear, Indian-chief style. while walking. Oh well! Keep on breathing! Love, Janet and Co.
